Gary Yon is a Pittsburgh based freelance photographer who has enjoyed a successful career in advertising and family-events photography for the past 20 years.

Moving on after attending Ivy School of Professional Art, Gary began as a staff photographer shooting everything from pots and pans to fashion for Kaufman’s Department store in Pittsburgh. After a short time as head photographer, Gary began developing a variety of commercial accounts with local corporations such as, Mellon Bank, USX, H.J. Heinz, and Pepsi Cola. Other projects included many executive portraits and former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford for the Oxford Club. Public relations type work include, the Pittsburgh Opera, Symphony and Public Theater as well as the Forbes Fund, Cystic Fibrosis, and The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Gary’s images of architecture have won numerous “Housing Excellence Awards” for many local builders such as Londonbury Homes, Sosso Builders and P.W.Campbell, as well as top notch designers Meadworth Interiors, Morrison Kitchens and many more. Exterior landscape awards were achieved for Eichenlaub Landscape Contractors and the “TOBY” award given to Jones Lang LaSalle for a new commercial property. Several A.I.A.(American Institute of Architects) and A.S.U. (American School and University) awards were achieved by Forman Architects, HHSDR architectural firm and Burt Hill Kosar Architects, to name a few.

While developing the commercial and corporate clientele, Gary simultaneously built a huge wedding business which he enjoys immensely. His love for pure photojournalism, lead him to an exciting reputation as one of Western Pennsylvania’s finest and sought after wedding photographers. An attraction to location portraits and high school seniors, are becoming Gary’s latest venture to add to his constantly changing, versatile style of photography. The artistic dimension of photography along with understanding people’s needs, has motivated him to satisfy his customers as a number one priority.
